In response to comments made, I have removed the Sharon O Brien Photos from my blog. I didn’t set out to offend anyone – I only put the photos up as her story was trending on Twitter at the time and I thought it would be a newsworthy blog post.
If anyone has any real information about what is actually going on with this, I’d be glad to hear from you. I am under the impression that it was an anti bullying charity setting out to create a cyber bullying campaign. However, when it started getting out of hand, the company responsible has now shied away from the story not wanting to cause themselves bad publicity.
Whether these charities deny responsibility or not, they are bound to have raised awareness anyway. So if they’re responsible or not, they still get a sharp rise in donations to their cause.
If she is a real person, under 18 or not, whoever has posted these photos will be liable to legal action.
If she has committed suicide over this, I can only offer my condolences to her friends and family. The comments people were making on Facebook were very nasty, and people should be ashamed of themselves. I do, however, doubt the authenticity of the groups, as there are hundreds of girls who pose in their underwear, why one has created such a stir sounds like a publicity stunt to me.

She was a fake. The account was set up by an actress for cyber bullying.
Why do people keep posting this? It doesn’t mean anything. There are so many different bullying charities out there it could be attributed to any of them.
The fact you have put these pictures up yourself makes you no better than the person who did this in the first place…worse even, when you yourself have acknowledged just how much you can get in to trouble for this. Promoting child pornography, you must feel great about yourself. Prat. This poor girl probably feels so horrible right now being exposed on such a large scale and you’re entertaining it. When you see the page “R.I.P Sharon O’Brien” you played a part in that along with hundreds of others that think this is acceptable. On your head be it.

General consensus is that her ex boyfriend uploaded pics of her that she sent him when they were together. but honestly, shes a kid. there are also rumors now that she’s killed herself due to all the abuse thats been getting thrown at her saying shes ‘a bit of a minger’ and saying she should just kill herself. this is a disgusting display of human cruelty. its too bad that the governments of the world don’t see fit to punish all those who’s comments led up to her rumored death and many others like it.

I’ve just got a broadcast on blackberry messenger saying she’d commited suicide, so I googled her to find out who she is. She hasn’t killed herself its just another way to bully her. She’s just a kid so y is everyone so interested in her just because she was nieve enough to do her boyfriend some pics. Stop giving this the attention her dickhead ex boyfriend craves, all ur doing is feeding this little fucks warped mind with the satisfaction of making her life hell just because he was dumped by a pretty young girl. at the end of the day yer, people upload pictures in the bikinis and they dont get shit? And thats probably more reveling then anything! In my opinion, if that is a ‘Anti-Bullying’ campaign then it’s a really bad one. If you pay people to show they pictures around Facebook, it’s making people bully more and saying she’s killed herself isn’t going to make a difference. You’re always going to get bullies, and the things people say even though they don’t know the person is sick. She’s still a real person and what they’re saying is horrible. No one deserves to be told to go kill themselves. Wouldn’t be the same if it was being done to them.

It has nothing to do with the anti-bullying group or the “Sharon Project” as some call it. As far as anyone knows this was a bitter ex who started off by making a fake Facebook account and then posting these pictures, after people found then groups were made and word spread to twitter you tube and so on …. As for her death where has anyone heard this because i have only seen this on Facebook for all we know it’s just a rumor as fake as the account holding the images itself.
You might be right Natalia, but in my experience with this kind of thing, it could have been started by absolutely anyone. It could be the work of an actress, it could be an ex boyfriend, it could be a charity. The only way we’ll ever find out is if ‘Sharon’ comes forward herself and says something about it.
